Five years ago, I was getting up before 6, got ready in a hassle, rushed into the car just to get stuck in a traffic jam and arrive having already played out a dozen scenarios in my head of getting fired and ending up homeless because I was late.
I sat by buttocks lame in an office chair, staring into a computer screen for 8-9 hours straight, doing monotonous work that fried my brain and dulled my spirit- just to come home at 5 or 6 and drop dead on the couch, bingewatching some show on netflix and eat whatever I found in the fridge.I realized very soon that this was by no chance what I’d be ready to settle for.And while I was surfing the internet on the job, because I was bored to death, I saw a meme that said;
„I want to have a job where I can be wearing yoga pants all day and nap whenever.“
As i’m writing this, I sit on a cozy balcony on the Island of la Gomera – and, you guessed it, I’m wearing Yoga pants.It was a long journey until I got here, to the place in my life where I get to choose what I do, for whom I do it, in what way and when – ultimate freedom.
But in the beginning, I was just as confused and overwhelmed as you.
So today, I’m going to teach you the very essentials you need to get in place so that you can start your own journey into freedom.
The biggest obstacles I was facing in the beginning phase of building my business were quite basic – and those are the very first things I like to tackle with my clients:
- I had no Idea what I would be doing or selling
- I had no idea what to call my business, left alone what my core message was
- I had no individual branding, so whenever I posted something on social media, It would get lost in a sea of generic pictures and messages
The problem was – I wasn’t even aware of these blockages for a while.
Ans once I realized I needed to get these things in order to start leaping forward, I was waiting for some sort of permission, guidance, and how-to.
The truth here is:
There is not one right way to go about it.
And if you feel like you don’t need any of these to start your business, you’re probably right. Every business is as unique as the person behind it, and you pretty much get to make your own rules.
But if you’re anything like me (a little scared & in need of unlearning limiting behaviors like waiting for permission from the outside), getting these things out of the way will bring you an enormous growth.
So, because I want you to grow and flourish into your most authentic life and soul mission, I’ll share with you how I got past these first bug hurdles of my own online business:
- I got my core message in place.
Your core message consists of two things: your brand story and your zone of genius. As soon as you know how to serve your ideal client with what comes to you with ease, you have the most basic foundation in place.
- I created a name for my business
As soon as you know what to call your business, you can go and create all the good stuff: your homepage, your instagram profile, your facebook group, your pinterest board and whatever else you choose to be your platform. It’s SO liberating to move past this block!!
- I created a personal brand
This one is always my favorite part when working with clients- I love finding the colors and textures, the images and fonts, the wording and the general look of a new business. When your content is branded, your audience will recognize you better and value your cohesive and consistent appearance – just think of Mc Donald’s – it’s easy to spot and you know what you get there.
These steps don’t have to happen before you do anything else, but it’s a good thing to do during the beginning.
Once you decided on your platforms, you can start radiating out your message into the world – because the world needs to hear what you have to say.
